The form was inspired during the restoration of a 1960s radio, where the warm glow of a tube amplifier became a point of fascination. The lamp’s simple oval silhouette and soft illumination reference this analogue source, translating the character of vintage electronic components into a contemporary design language. Its proportions have been carefully resolved to achieve a precise balance between hard and soft elements, as well as transparent and opaque surfaces.
Drawing directly from radio and hi-fi equipment, the Helix Lamp echoes the distinctive round, transparent form of a tube amplifier. Glass typically used for hourglasses was selected to achieve the curved, narrowed profile, while marble was introduced to counterbalance the delicacy of the glass. The dialogue between these two materials defines the lamp’s character—technical yet warm, refined yet expressive.
